Seller: Grand Eagle Retail, Bensenville, IL, U.S.A.
Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This little book explodes onto the long historiography of the American Revolution, and shatters all previous American Revolutionary, shibboleths. It destroys totally the accepted New Englander interpretation of the Revolution as false. It regards the real revolution as a stolen legacy. A deliberate false-hood practiced upon the unsuspecting American public for nigh on 250 years. Mr. Ruttledge shows it up for what it really is a charlatan parading as truth, yet it is no more truthful than an urban myth. Mr. Ruttledge gathers a plethora of evidence to back up his claim and yet what is most startling is not the revelations it shows up ;but more importantly why no one else has seen the obvious. The evidence is for all to see in plain sight and has been for the past 250 years. why has no one else considered to look. or have they been looking the other way? The Irish, The Catholics, the African Americans have all been deliberately written out, up until now! well no more they have arisen and what a story they tell. "Why We Fought: A Revolutionary Book about the American Revolution" offers a fascinating and unique analysis of the American Revolution. Arguably the most radical book on the subject, these pages take you on an enlightening exploration of the revolution's spirit. Sharing the hidden side of the revolution, this book certainly delivers. Seller: JP MOUNTAIN BOOKS, PORTLAND, OR, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Reprint. 1935 National Travel Club USA edition. Though the book has "First Edition" printed on the copyright page, this is a reprint published by The National Travel Club. However, this reprint is the same format/size as the true first USA edition published by McBride, basically the same book but with a different title and copyright page. This is the USA version of .Everest 1933 first published in the UK by Hodder & Stoughton in 1934. The USA edition differs from the UK edition in that it is smaller format (but still larger than average size) and has 15 fewer photos and only one map (vs. 3 maps in the UK edition). A perk added to the USA edition that was not included in the UK edition was the addition of a "3-D" photo of Everest with special viewing glasses (paper frame with celluloid lenses) in a rear pocket. This example is LACKING the 3-D glasses and pocket. LACKING the dust jacket. The book has light wear to covers, fading to spine, rough area rear pastedown where glasses pocket removed (now lost), gift inscription dated 1983 on top of front pastedown and name dated 1959 on top of short-title page otherwise no writing or marks on any pages, no foxing, solid binding, no crease marks. I included a new custom-made pair of 3-D viewing glasses with the book. They work exactly just as poorly as the original pair = the 3--D effect was never very spectacular. The book measures 244mm tall x 168mm, and has 339 pages, 45 b/w photos, 1 map, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL ITEM BEING OFFERED.
