La deuxième obligation du seigneur était de préparer et remettre à l'intendant, sous un délai de quarante jours, un Aveu et dénombrement de son domaine, consistant en un plan descriptif et un recensement de ses habitants, de l'étendue des concessions qui leur avaient été faites et des charges dont elles étaient grevées. S'il faisait des concessions en arrière-fief à même son domaine, il était tenu de les indiquer, car le sous-seigneur rendait foi et hommage, aveu et dénombrement au seigneur qui lui avait sous-concédé son arrière-fief et c'est celui-ci qui devait en faire rapport à la Couronne dans l'aveu et dénombrement de sa seigneurie.
