Soft cover. Condition: Fair. This children's booklet is "Cotton" by Sallie B. Marks. It is Unit Study Book No. 506, and was published in Columbus, Ohio by American Education Press in 1935. Measuring 5 3/8' x 8 1/4", with thirty-six pages and numerous halftone photographs, this thin paperback was meant to be used in elementary schools as a supplementary text. The front cover features an old engraving of Eli Whitney's cotton gin, which is surrounded by an intricate border depicting various technological and natural marvels - the border was generic for the series. The photographs scattered through the text are interesting in the way they present the labors of a bygone era, which has mostly been lost to the mists of time. BINDING - The staples have rusted, but still seem to be firmly attached; no leaves are detached or loose. INTERIOR - There is a discernible damp stain throughout the book, extending from the bottom fore-edge corners to about half the length of the spine ; the aforementioned darkening caused by the staples are visible at various points; no writing, signatures, marginalia or marking.…
