Hardcover. Condition: VG. Dust jacket condition: No Jacket (as issued). 2 volumes in 1 (332 pages) : portraits ; 23 cm. Listing of theatre venues with description and listing of talent, chiefly French, German and Swiss actors and musicians, each with c.v and photo. Bound in blue cloth. From the Foreword: In former years there existed an adequate supply of Manuals, Musical Guides and similar works but all of them more or less have been devoted to. the purpose of furnishing statistic material. The aim ?THE WORLD MUSICAL AND THEATRICAL GUIDE is to be practical, to bring real advantage to the readers through its advertising propaganda and at the same time be serviceable not only to Club Managers and Directors but also to American music students. Above all, the GUIDE shall give immediate, precise and authentic information about artists appearing in public, either in concerts or leading parts. The GUIDE contains also many things especially interesting to students, always adhering to the practical end. They will be thoroughly informed about all German Opera Houses, where stage routine may he obtained, where an operatic career may be successfully started. Also those German Concert-Institutions or Organizations are mentioned -where singers are regularly engaged as soloists or for oratorio parts. Other countries, for instance Great Britain, where there is only one leading opera house and where there is no chance for beginners, are chiefly represented through Chorus- and Oratorio Societies. Italy again shows a great number of opera houses and every other country mentioned in the GUIDE will be treated according to prevailing conditions. Music -- Directories. Musicians -- Directories. Theaters -- Directories.
