Federico García Lorca y Salvador Dalí se conocieron en la Residencia de Estudiantes en enero de 1923 y mucho se ha especulado sobre el carácter de esa amistad. El epistolario entre los dos artistas, uno de los más vibrantes del siglo XX, es la mejor herramienta para profundizar en aquella relación, aunque en algunas ocasiones nos obligue a leer entre líneas. Hasta la fecha, nunca se había reunido la totalidad de las cartas conservadas de Lorca y Dalí, a las que se suman en este libro las que el poeta cruzó con la hermana y el padre del pintor, así como con Lídia de Cadaqués, uno de los personajes míticos del universo daliniano. En estas cartas, Lorca nos muestra lo mejor de sí mismo y de su poesía, tratado de seducir con la palabra a un Dalí que quiere estar a la altura intelectual del poeta y que, para ello, despliega todo su ingenio y sentido del humor. En ellas vemos cómo Dalí absorbe la poesía de Lorca y la incorpora a su propio genio y cómo Lorca se impregna de la locura surrealista de Dalí para enriquecer su forma de captar la realidad.
