Die Festreden wurden gehalten von drei namhaften Luzerner Professoren und Chorherren: 1. Johann Schmid (1843?1898), von Gelfingen. Priester, Kirchenhistoriker, Professor und Rektor in Münster (Beromünster), Professor der Exegese in Luzern, Erziehungsrat, Chorherr und Domherr (HBLS); 2. Leonhard Haas (Horw 1833?1906 Solothurn), von Horw. Priester, u.a. Pfarrhelfer an der Hofkirche Luzern. 1875 Professor der Moral und Pastoral an der Theologischen Lehranstalt Luzern und bis 1878 Präfekt der Jesuitenkirche, 1878 Chorherr von St. Leodegar und Regens des Diözesanseminars in Luzern. Seit 1888 erster Bischof von Basel und Lugano. Haas war ein volksverbundener Praktiker und Reorganisator. Er gilt als Ultramontaner und ?Bischof des Wiederaufbaus nach dem Kulturkampf? (HLS u.
