First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Included. First Edition. Boston, Burdette and Company, 1962. Quarto; cloth; slightly bumped and rubbed; front endpapers slightly marked; a very good copy with the dustwrapper a little rubbed, creased, chipped and torn. Presentation copy inscribed to Lady Rita Irene (Rene) McBride, wife of Sir Philip McBride, Australian Minister of Defence (1950-1958). The inscription (dated 5 November 1963) is just beneath the stamp of US destroyer U.S.S. 'Southerland' DDR 743, and is signed by the officer commanding. The last 12 pages appear to be supplementary to the more usual 180 pages for this book, and provide a history of the U.S.S. 'Southerland'.
