Jahrhundert hinweg grundsaetzlich eine Tendenz zu erhoehter Sensibilisierung fuer Gewalt und zu ihrer negativen Bewertung gab, abgeschottete Raeume mit starkem Autoritaetsgefaelle dabei aber eine bemerkenswerte Veraenderungsresistenz aufwiesen.The contributions in this volume deal with violence (physical and other types of violence) performed by young adults or inflicted on them by adults, e. g. in schools and foster homes. The contributions show that such experienced and discursively processed violence can only be understood correctly, if it is placed in a larger social context be it with regard to defensibility, morally appropriate behaviour or generational and gender relations. Despite a general tendency towards an increased awareness of violence and its negative evaluation throughout the 20th century, it becomes obvious that isolated spaces with strong hierarchies showed a remarkable resistance to change. Condition: Fine. This rare color chromolithograph is from Prof. Dr. Karl Schumann's Bluhende Kakteen (Iconographia Cactacearum). The work was published by J. Neumann in Germany between 1900 and 1921. The work was issued only once, and contains beautiful cactus plates illustrated by Toni Gurke, wife of the editor Max Gurke. Each…features original hand-finished coloring with gum arabic. The work was a comprehensive look at nearly 200 flowering cactus species, with a strong selection from Central and South America.Schumann founded the German Cactus Society and catalogued serval new species. He was also the curator of the Berlin Botanical Museum, and he taught botany at the University of Berlin. He also contributed to the field of botanical morphology and is credited with describing hundreds of new species. Three botanical genera and several cactus species have been named after him. --- The work is in very good to excellent condition overall.
