Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a compilation of Attorney General Jackson's annual reports to the New York State Legislature during 1907. His report provides an overview of the operations of the Attorney General's office, including investigations into the American Ice Company and proposed telephone monop…olies. The author describes the legal work his office undertook with respect to forest preservation, and discusses the need for a thorough investigation into the matter by a nonpartisan legislative committee. The report also provides insight into the ongoing prosecution of election crimes in the New York City metropolitan area, and criminal proceedings undertaken at the request of the governor. Jackson's report goes into detail on tax cases his office has handled, and provides updates on special franchise tax litigation. Of note is the discussion of cases involving charitable institution tax exemptions, and efforts to push delinquent corporations to pay taxes owed to New York City. Finally, the report covers the standing of the many receivership proceedings that the Attorney General's office was involved with. This book is an invaluable resource for understanding the operations and priorities of the New York State Attorney General's office during 1907. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Good. No Dust Jacket. First Edition. No date of publication, though circa 1935. 428 pages. After having his medical license suspended by the Kansas State Medical Board on September 17, 1930, John Brinkley and his team of lawyers appealed the revocation in case No. 1345-N, beginning on December 30, 1931 and… concluding on July 15, 1935. In summary, the conclusions state that "They ignored all of the evidence of plaintiff at every turn. That the proceedings from the inception to the end were arbitrary, capricious and oppressive, and a reckless disregard of the rights of this plaintiff and without the process of law." Binder's tape is seen over the spine, though believed to be original to publication. Covers are a little soiled. Lower outside corner of front cover is a little curled, as are the first few leaves. Volume remains tight, and contents are clean and intact.
