First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. THE ART OF HELPING PEOPLE OUT OF TROUBLE BY KARL DE SCHWEINITZ 1924 1ST DJ. Quoting from the cover of the dust jacket: This is a practical book about the troubles that arise in the life of every human being and the way in which can be met. It is both an interpretation of the art of living and a description of a method of helping people to overcome their difficulties. Although the subject is trouble, the discussion is inspirational rather than depressing. Through it runs a faith in the ability of human beings to achieve happiness if rightly directed. I am very pleased to present a nice copy of this rather scarce and vintage book still with its dust jacket titled: The Art of Helping People Out of Trouble by Karl De Schweinitz. This small hard cover book (5 ½ x 8 inches 231 pages) was published by Houghton Mifflin of Boston and New York dated 1924 and an apparent First Edition. The book is bound in a pronounced red weave cloth with gilt titles on cover and spine and an embossed colophon of the publisher on the cover; it is protected by a printed paper dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows considerable edge wear top & bottom and some larger chips at the top of the rear cover but is still largely intact although price-clipped (please see the photos). The hard covers are still bright and attractive and although the gilt titles are a bit tarnished, they are fully legible. There has been some light bumping to corners and spine tips. The dust jacket has some penciled notation of the upper front flap probably from a bookseller. Inside a former owner had left her inked name on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book. The interior pages are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
