One copy of the 1629 edition at Manchester. Contemporary rigid full vellum binding. Smooth spine with handwritten title (faded). An old dampstain at the bottom of the upper board. The work is one of the best heraldry books, and deals with the constitution of coats of arms and the significance of armorial bearings; it contains a method for drawing up genealogies and lineages, and establishes the transmission of arms. The work is also a manual of heraldic law. The arms of Jean Scohier are azure, three winged stags salient sable. 19th-century engraved bookplate with the quartered arms of the Duke of Guillaboz.
