Bound in half white and half baby blue linen, inticately tooled in gilt front cover and spine, patterned floral end papers, top edge gilt. Illustrated. Very Good Plus, small chips at top edge front end paper, light soiling to linen covers. prior owner name in ink front end page, a few spots of toning to frontis illustration. The two blank front end pages each with full page manuscript in pencil, the firtst dated Dec. 2nd, 1894, the 2nd, Dec. 2nd, 1944. The first speaks of the value of these poems "to stretch to suit a great grief, and shrink to fit a small one", and the 2nd, a poem by an unknown author that clearly relates to a WW II loss.
