The boards are quite shelf rubbed, edge worn and marked, with the cloth torn and fraying in the corners and top & bottom edges of the spine. The gilt to the spine is also faded and rubbed. Despite this, the boards are strong and confident. Internally, there is a retailer's sticker on the front pastedown, and there is marking and foxing throughout. The bottom corner of the front end page is creased. There are no inscriptions, and the pages within remain whole and square. The binding is sound. JK. The spine band is sunned. Titling to the spine-band is discernible. Gilt titling to the front board is dulled. Apart from the defects to the boards this would be Good condition. A great candidate for re-casing. Owner's signature to the front pastedown. Head and tail of the spine-band is softened. Small spot 'crater' on the top edge of the paperblock close to the spine - possibly a burn patch 2mm deep and 5mm long x 2mm wide. Press review flyer tipped in at the front end-paper. Gift inscription to the front end-paper underneath the press flyer. Foxing to the end-papers and sporadic light foxing through the text block. 198 pages with frontispiece portrait of the author and 12 plate illustrations. 54 Sportsmen/Hunters biographies are detailed.
