Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition, Illustrated Edition. SEUSS, Dr. [pseudonym of Theodor Seuss GEISEL] (1904-1991). The King's Stilts. New York: Random House, 1939. First Edition. FIRST PRINTING, in the first-printing binding of yellow cloth with large deep-red pictorial panels to both boards, lettered in yellow. Copyright page dated 1939 with no subsequent printings listed and naming only the two preceding Dr. Seuss juvenile titles, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street and The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. Quarto (4to); unpaginated [56 pp.]. Red endpapers with crown-and-stilts vignettes. Written and illustrated throughout by Dr. Seuss, with black-and-white illustrations accented in red. One of Seuss's earliest children's books and his first book published by Random House. Written in prose rather than verse, the story follows King Birtram of Binn, whose daily play upon his red stilts restores the energy needed to protect his kingdom from the nizzards. Contents generally clean, with moderate foxing and spotting, particularly to the endpapers, preliminary leaves, title page, and margins of some text leaves. Binding remains sound and square. Original cloth rubbed and soiled, with wear at the spine ends, corners, and board edges; several small pale marks to the rear board. Lacking dust jacket. A sound first-printing copy in Good condition. Younger & Hirsch, pp. 120-121. [Attributes: First Edition; First Printing; Hard Cover; Illustrated.]. SEUSS, Dr. [pseudonym of Theodor Seuss GEISEL] (1904-1991). (illustrator).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition, Illustrated Edition. SEUSS, Dr. [pseud. of Theodor Seuss GEISEL] (1904-1991). McElligot's Pool. New York: Random House, 1947. First Edition, First Printing, first binding state (State A), with the open-mouthed fish on the front board and the seven-line copyright notice. Quarto (4to); unpaginated. Original blue-green cloth, lettered and pictorially decorated in dark green. Illustrated throughout by Dr. Seuss with alternating black-and-white and color illustrations. Housed in a later supplied, or married, Random House dust jacket, retaining the correct front-panel design but with the rear panel advertising titles published after 1947. One of Dr. Seuss's most imaginatively illustrated early books, following Marco as he envisions the extraordinary fish that might inhabit an apparently unpromising pool. The work received a 1948 Caldecott Honor and is notable for its expansive aquatic scenes and inventive creatures. Contents clean, unmarked, and retaining bright color illustrations, with minor scattered foxing and handling wear. Binding remains sound and square. Original cloth with moderate rubbing at the corners and spine ends and light wear along the extremities. Later married dust jacket with rubbing, chipping, edge tears, creasing, and old repairs; the rear panel confirms that it was issued after the book's original 1947 publication. An attractive first-state copy presented in a later jacket. Reference: Younger & Hirsch 53. [Attributes: First Edition; First Printing; Hard Cover; Illustrated.]. SEUSS, Dr. [pseudonym of Theodor Seuss GEISEL] (1904-1991). (illustrator).

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Deluxe Limited Edition. Seuss, Dr. (pseudonym for Theodor Geisel). YOU'RE ONLY OLD ONCE! New York: Random House, (1986). FIRST EDITION: LIMITED EDITION; #224 OF 500 NUMBERED COPIES SPECIALLY BOUND AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. 4to - 11-1/4" x 8-1/4". Teal cloth covered boards with "Dr. Seuss" blind-stamped to lower fore edge corner of front cover and titles stamped in gilt to spine, with minor sun fading to spine for what otherwise is a pristine copy of the book. Original publisher's plain teal cloth covered board slipcase with areas of light sun fading, but with no wear or tear for what is a nice example of the publisher's slipcase. Color pictorial endpapers. [48] pp. Published on Dr. Seuss' 82nd birthday, You're Only Old Once! is a picture book for adults. Illustrated by Dr. Seuss in bright, vivid colors throughout, the story, which is told in typical, silly, Seussian verse, follows the plight of an elderly man as he endures a series of bizarre medical tests at the Golden Years Clinic; one leaf with an inconsequential 5/16" long closed tear to the fore edge; otherwise, internally the book is without flaw. The condition of both the book and the slipcase are NEAR FINE. SCARCE. Seuss, Dr. (pseudonym for Theodor Geisel) (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).
