Seyewetz devint directeur adjoint de l'Ecole de Chimie Industrielle et directeur aux Usines Lumière. Il est l'auteur de très importants travaux scientifiques concernant la chimie photographique et la chimie organique (matières colorantes). Cette thèse est divisée en trois parties : considérations générales sur les combinaisons des matières colorantes basiques avec les matières colorantes acides ; thermochimie des combinaisons des matières colorantes acides avec la fuchsine ; application de la précipitation des matières colorantes basiques avec les colorants acides à l'analyse qualitative et quantitative des matières colorantes (teignant ou non les fibres de coton, laine, soie).
