The previous library has written its cataloging numbers on the spine. The previous library has stamped the end pages but the book does have several full page illustrations. FFE bears original owner's signature and bookseller's stamp. Crack in front and rear hinge, though binding is firm. Coloured map at front is clean and clear with small 15mm closed tear at margin junction. Contents are clean.

Volume 2 has 668 pages 6 1 page maps and a index. Both have various steel engravings. All contents are very clean with no foxing or stains. Volume 1 does have a section near the rear of about 30 pages that have a damaged top corner from pages being bent over a long time ago and causing some of the corner to break off.
