This blank diary book was intended to be a book of family & friends birthdays, and special dates, with religious text to learn. And to be kept, so not a normal diary. The dates part is 3 days per page, the opposite side has the daily religious text. Contents mostly very good & tight, with gilt edges, the odd corner fold. a nice gilt & colour chromatographic frontispiece, Inside front is an owners signature, there are a number of names of friends filled in including some with dates, most of these types of tome were kept for many years by original owner. This copy states one hundred and fifth thousand, undated, but most likely about the 1880's. There were also similar/almost identical tomes including. The Soul's Inquiries Answered. A very many were sold at railway shops, many for gifts or Sunday school prizes. They were sold like this copy, a very decorative Hard back or the cheaper flexible covers /types. Ideal for all well to do Victorian Christians Size: 11 x 7cm Approx.
