Hardcover. Condition: Good. Jerry Bywaters (illustrator). See photos for condition details. Hardcover, described and signed by the author on the front end page. Also found within the book was a four-page short story, and a newspaper clipping (not pictured) talking about how Earl Philips was able to get a convict released for a week so he can take them down to Big Spring so they can hear his music. The tan cloth exterior of the book is quite spotted and soiled, spine is darkened and there is a rectangular spot near the title on the front, presumably from a price sticker. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and there is some spotting and smudge marks scattered about. No other handwriting noted other than the author's inscription, no bookplates, no library markings. Copyright page states fifth printing. Signed by Author(s).
Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Bywaters, Jerry (illustrator). 4th Printing. Book has previous owner's name written on the top of the fixed end papers and first page, discoloration and normal shelf wear otherwise very good. Shine Philips' book makes no pretence of being a literary masterpiece, it just aims to give you some good hearty chuckles as it paints a picture of a past era in BIG SPRING, a West Texas prairie town. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
