Shipley is a Vermont-based poet and journalist who graduated from the Columbia Journalism School's Arts and Culture M.A. program, and was a contributing editor of Yankee Magazine.

As issued, in linen over boards, printed in black and red with an illustration by Miller-Brown. A fine copy. A beautiful collection by Shipley whose prose and poetry attempt to reconcile the farming life with the writing life. This book was selected as a Boston Globe Best New England Book of 2014. Tom Slayton, editor-emeritus of Vermont Life Magazine writes: "Words and work are melded in a series of essays that are brief, captivating and profound, with references that range from Japanese Haiku to Seamus Heaney, and from summertime haying to mid-winter manure piles."
