Le piastre MMC in alluminio sono fabbricate con… il processo di stir casting. Sono stati fabbricati sei campioni, tre con rinforzi e altri tre senza rinforzi. Tutte e tre le coppie di piastre composite sono saldate con il processo FSW variando le velocità di avanzamento di 40mm/min, 80mm/min e 120mm/min con una velocità di rotazione di 600rpm. La zona saldata è stata valutata al SEM e le caratteristiche di fretting sono state studiate usando un tribometro lineare alternativo. Dal test di fretting, si è visto che l'aggiunta di rinforzi ha ridotto l'usura del composito. Si è anche riscontrato che l'aumento dell'avanzamento ha aumentato l'usura del campione. Inoltre, all'aumentare del carico aumenta la perdita di peso del provino. I risultati dei test sono tabulati e sono tracciati sul grafico.
