Dark red cloth rubbed; two black ink stains on front board; light fading to spine with small cloth losses at frayed ends; spine's gilt stamping still fairly bright; slight wear at boards' fore-edge corners; slender tearing and cloth loss at rear board's top right corner adjacent to spine (red cloth is one of at least two binding variants with their respective priority unknown). Text block edges toned; foxing to top edge as well. Endpapers toned; some scattered light soiling and foxing to interior leaves with strongest foxing occurring on pages adjacent to the book's plates. Binding stressed between various quires but holding. Includes eight tables, thirty plates (twenty single image b/w plates, seven double b/w image plates, 1 b/w map, and two two-page state color maps -"Geological and Artesian Water Map of Alabama as frontispiece and "Map of Alabama Showing Approximately the Artesian Systems"), and twenty-three figures (some of which are small b/w maps as well).
