First Edition
Hard Cover. Original illustrations by Smith and new color illustrations by G.H. Jalland (illustrator). First printing of this edition. Three-quarter vellum binding with marbled boards. Shelfwear, spine darkened, binding somewhat loose, brief 1897 inscription, and hinges just starting. Some brief marginal pencil notations, but, in themselves, somewhat interesting. The illustrations by Jalland are in fine condition with tissue guards in place. A handsome and serviceable edition issued for The Sportsman Library edited by Maxwell.
