Believed to have been the only edition. illustrated and gilt embossed cloth with a frontispiece of the actor/singer also repeated on the cover, some ingrained dirt and spine a little faded, contents very clean, except for pages 32/33 where along the top edge is some browning/rust with some other light foxing at prelims and endpapers, old newscutting pinned to endpaper. Octavo. Very Scarce Theatre and Opera interest book. * George Harry Snazelle: The Opera and Magic-Lantern and music hall actor entertainer, born in 1848 died in 1912. He was a frequent visitor to Australia and this loosely complied series of anecdotes written with the help of his friend "Gorgeous" George Edwards in 1898 but it seems they fell out soon after the book was published. He was also part of Carl Rosa's Operatic Group in the 1880's. He sold himself as "The Great Snazelle" and did magic lantern and singing/monologue and acting roles in the late 19th century Music Hall's to some serious success. But there but for the grace of.he left £42 at his death.
