Preface by Archbishop Cosmo of York. Internally very clean. The life of Archbishop John Sharp, chaplain to Heneage Finch and anti Romanist Dean of Norwich, who became Archbishop of York in 1691. He helped to set up Queen Anne's Bounty, restored Southwell Minster, laid out the grounds at Bishopthorpe Palace and may have been instrumental in stopping Jonathan Swift from becoming bishop of Hereford. No 25 in the York Minster Historical Tracts series.

A Benedictine monastery founded in 1089 as Micklegate Priory by Ralph Paynel, and dedicated to the Holy Trinity, this is now a Grade I listed parish church in York.Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and thirty-four full page plates of illustrations. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's paper vellum binding with titles in gilt to spine and front board. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, boards lightly marked and rubbed, back strip darkened. Previous owner's gift inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1910. Internally, firmly bound.
