Five raised bands, gilt decorations, title in gilt on red morocco labels affixed to spines. Top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Finely bound by Riviere and Son, with binder's imprint on verso of front endpaper. No additional printings listed. Solid text blocks, light wear along edges of covers, faint foxing to a few leaves throughout. Features 86 of 87 illustrations, including frontispieces, vignettes, full-page plates, and in text illustrations. Lacking plate opposite page 100 of Volume I. A near fine set. Housed in a custom orange cloth slipcase, thin ripples to cloth.
