Hardback. Condition: Good. A hilarious monologue about fatherhood by a unique comic voiceIn Morning, Noon and Night that master of the confessional, Spalding Gray, tells the event-filled, emotionally charged, and outrageously funny story of one day of his life in October 1997, after the birth of his son Theo. Horrified by the prospect of having another son, considering what he and his two brothers did to their father, and ambivalent about the idea of living in a small, quaint town on eastern Long Island that seems an odd detour for a man destined for California, Gray comes to feel, of course, a profound affinity for his baby boy, born with the looks of a wet, blue beaver. But this is not merely a father's account of an infant son; it's the story of his new life with his girlfriend Kathie; his regally precocious eleven-year-old stepdaughter, Marissa (Please don't let me die a virgin ); and his older son, Forrest, who stymies Gray time and again with his metaphysical inquisitiveness-Daddy, what's behind the stars? How do flies celebrate?A richly comic work about parenthood, about adults who don't grow up and children who do, Morning, Noon and Night stands as Gray's most mature work to date.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. 2010 Reprint of 1924 Edition. In 1924 Spalding published this first and most important volume of Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East. It describes the travels to India and Tibet of a research party of eleven scientists in 1894. During their trip they claim to have made contact with the Great Masters of the Himalayas, immortal beings with whom they lived and studied, gaining a fascinating insight into their lives and spiritual message. This close contact enabled them to witness many of the spiritual principles evinced by these Great Masters translated into their everyday lives, which could be described as 'miracles'. Such examples are walking on water, or manifesting bread to feed the hungry party. These books have remained consistently popular with spiritual seekers, those interested in the philosophy of the East and those who enjoy a good story because of their accessible nature and easy-to-follow format. However, despite most of the action taking place in India, the Great Masters make it clear that the greatest embodiment of the Enlightened state is that of the Christ (as personified by Jesus): The Masters accept that Buddha represents the Way to Enlightenment, but they clearly set forth that Christ IS Enlightenment, or a state of consciousness for which we are all seeking - the Christ light of every individual; therefore, the light of every child born into the world.…

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. In Karma II, The Book of Works: The Energy Dynamics of Karmic Evolutionary Progression, Shanna Spalding St. Clair presents an often mystifying concept: the energy dynamics that form the human karmic experience and create and align karmic progression. Karma II's topics include: relationships of the soul, origin and purpose of human form, karmic tasks, karmic lessons, karmic design, karmic theory of light, simultaneously incarnating souls, myth and karma, the law of similars, healing, teaching, reincarnation, transcendence, and much more. . Those with whom you learn your most valuable karmic lessons while in an incarnation are there to affirm your existence as a separate form of light energy and to give assistance to your progression, and it is through this choice of interaction with these other seemingly influential forms of light (which you perceive as your soulmates) that you appear to gain your direction and purpose for the current incarnation, because they provide for you the limitations (yes, limitations) to perceive what that direction and purpose can be. The Principle of Perspective involves how we know or how we perceive or how we choose an incarnation for the potential value that its specific parameters may place on us as soul-form entities in order to promote the viewpoint, the perspective, through which lessons that will promote our karmic progression can be acquired. What appears to be in opposition may, on balance, not be in opposition but may be providing occasions for similars to interact. That which appears in opposition is but a further aspect of the thing itself. The key for karmic progression in a human incarnation is to find the point of balance so that the continuum is perceived. Teaching is the purpose of choosing an incarnation on the earthplane in the first instance. Healing is a form of teaching. Both healing and teaching result in learning and progression. These are inseparable causes and effects. Shanna Spalding St. Clair has been a writer, spiritual educator, and medium for 30 years. Her spiritual writings are inspirational and illuminating. She has presented workshops throughout the U.S. Shanna currently writes and teaches in Florida.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Since publishing the original edition of A Woman's World in 1995, Travelers' Tales has been the recognized national leader in women's travel literature, and with the launch of the annual series The Best Travel Writing in 2004, the obvious next step was an annual collection of the best women's travel writing of the year. This title is the eleventh in that seriesThe Best Women's Travel Writingpresenting stimulating, inspiring, and uplifting adventures from women who have traveled to the ends of the earth to discover new places, peoples, and facets of themselves. The common threads connecting these stories are a female perspective and fresh, compelling storytelling to make the reader laugh, weep, wish she were there, or be glad she wasn't. The points of view and perspectives are global, and themes are as eclectic as in all of our books, including stories that encompass spiritual growth, hilarity and misadventure, high adventure, romance, solo journeys, stories of service to humanity, family travel, and encounters with exotic cuisine. The 31 true travel stories in this year's collection are, as always, wildly diverse in theme and location. They tell of places like California and Cuba, Switzerland and Singapore, Iran and Iceland, Montana and Mexico and Mongolia and Mali, our own back yards and some of the farthest, most extreme corners of the world. They are the personal stories we can't help but collect when we travel, stories of reaching out to embrace the unfamiliar and creating cross-cultural connections while learning more about ourselves. Paperback. Condition: Good. "Pure romance magic." --Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of Love & Other Words "I loved how joyful, how thoughtful, and how real For Her Consideration was." --New York Times bestselling author Jasmine Guillory Perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Meryl Wilsner, a funny, heartwarming, and moving novel about bad breakups, found families, and embracing life. A Buzzfeed LGBTQ Romance You've Got to Read Since a crushing breakup three years ago, Nina Rice has written romance, friends, her dreams of scriptwriting for TV, and even LA proper out of her life. Instead, she's safely out in the suburbs in her aunt's condo working her talent agency job from home, managing celebrity email accounts, and certain that's plenty of writing--and plot--for her life. But a surprise meeting called by Ari Fox, a young actress on everyone's radar, stirs up all kinds of feelings Nina thought she'd deleted for good . . . Ari is sexy, out and proud, and a serious control freak, according to Nina's boss. She has her own ideas about how Nina should handle her emails--and about getting to know her ghostwriter. When she tells Nina she should be writing again, Nina suddenly finds it less scary to revisit her abandoned life than seriously consider that Ari is flirting with her. Between reconnecting with her old crew and working on a new script, a relationship with a movie star seems like something she'll definitely mess up--but what could be more worth the risk? Amy Spalding's For Her Consideration is full of heat and heart as Nina learns that her story just might include the kind of love that lasts. "A warm celebration of Los Angeles, chosen family, and learning how to love and be loved." --Cameron Esposito, bestselling author of Save Yourself "An optimistic, empathetic choice for readers, which highlights queer women pursuing creative careers and showcases a strong emotional growth arc." - Library Journal "A cozy comfort-read." - Publishers Weekly.…

Hardback. Condition: Very Good. The US media suggests that Russia poses the greatest threat to America's national security, but retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Spalding believes the real danger lies further east. While those in power have been distracted and disorderly, Spalding believes China has waged a six-front war on America's economy, military, diplomacy, technology, education, and infrastructure - and they're winning. In Stealth War, Spalding reveals China's motives and secret attacks on the West and how it's still possible for the U.S. to combat China's stealth war.…

Hardback. Condition: Good. Publishers Weekly Best Summer Reads Overturn everything you knew about history's greatest minds in this raucous and hilarious book, where it turns out there's a finer line between "genius" and "idiot" than we've previously known. "As Albert Einstein almost certainly never said, everyone is a genius - but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." So begins Katie Spalding's spunky takedown of the Western canon, and how genius may not be as irrefutably great as we commonly understand. While most of us may never become Einstein, it may surprise you to learn that there's probably a bunch of stuff you can do that Einstein couldn't. And, as Spalding shows, the famous prodigies she explores here were quite odd by any definition. For example: Thomas Edison, inventor of the lightbulb, believed that he could communicate with the undead and built the world's very first hotline to heaven: the Spirit Phone. Marie and Pierre Curie, famous for discovering radioactivity, slept next to a lump of radioactive material for years and strapped it to their arms to watch it burn them in real-time. Lord Byron, acclaimed British poet, literally took a bear with him to university. Isaac Newton discovered the laws of gravity and motion, but he also looked up at the sun without eye protection. The result? Three days of blindness. Tesla, whose scientific work led to the invention of the AC unit, fell in love with a pigeon. Edison's Ghosts is filled with examples of the so-called best of humanity doing, to put it bluntly, some really dumb shit. You'll discover stories that deserve to be told but never are: the hilarious, regrettable, and downright bafflingly lesser-known achievements that never made it into our history books, until now.…
