Johann Jacob Speidel, geboren in Stuttgart Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts, gestorben nach 1666. Rechtsgelehrter und juristischer Schriftsteller. Studierte unter Besold in Tübingen die Rechte, um das Jahr trat er 1630 zur katholischen Kirche übertrat, später wurde er kaiserlicher Hofrath und Kanzler des Erzherzogs Sigismund Franz, Fürstbischofs von Augsburg. Delegirter des Hauses Oesterreich im Reichstage zu Regensburg. 2., unveränderte Auflage des erstmals 1657 erschienen Bandes des Stuttgarter Rechtsgelehrten Johann Jacob Speidel. VD171:009353T. Seitenzählung springt von 360 auf 363. Titel in Schwarz und Rot mit Druckermarke und gestochenem Kupfertitel. Text in Latein und Deutsch. Der beigebundene "Supplementum Speidelianum" von Dietherr in erster und einziger Ausgabe (VD17 1:060286L) mit Titelblatt in Rot und Schwarz, ist ein selbständiger Ergänzungsband zu der auch von Dietherr besorgten hier vorliegenden Ausgabe von 1683 des "Speculum juridico-politico-historicarum observationum & notabilium". Das interessante, umfangreiche Nachschlagewerk in Deutsch und teils Latein bildet eine Art Reallexikon nicht nur für Handels- und Rechtswissenschaft, sondern auch für Gebiete wie Geschichte, Geographie, Kulturgeschichte etc., und es enthält Erläuterungen zu vielen seltenen, vergessenen oder heute unbekannte Begriffen und Namen. Es behandelt unter anderem auch die verschiedensten Berufe, Vorschriften über Bierbrauerei und -Verkauf, Gründung der Akademie zu Coburg, Narren, "Unterirdische Menschen", Würfelspiel, Zuckerbäcker, Zwitter u. v. m. Mehrere kleine Besitzerstempel auf Innendeckeln, Vorsätzen und Titel. Pergamentband mit leichten Gebrauchsspuren. Gutes bis (vor allem innen) sehr gutes Exemplar. Sprache: deutsch.
