The book is in Very Good- condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book covers have some bumping, rubbing and wear to the spine ends and corners. There is some rubbing and a small tear to the bottom spine end. The covers have several small spots of ground-in dirt, and there is a very small tear to the bottom edge of the book cover. The text pages are generally clean and bright, however there is some bleed-over of ink on several of the full-color illustrated pages.     No Binding. Condition: Collectible-Very Good. Original billhead printed in black ink on light beige paper. Also includes handwriting in black ink and pencil. Datelined April 13, 1898 in Sacramento, California. 8 1/2" x 5 1/2." Billhead is very clean and intact except for light age toning, a vertical fold line at center, slight wrinkling, and a small closed tear measuring 1/4" on front-left edge (not affecting text). A Very Good copy. An original billhead from the Sperry Flour Company and Pioneer Mills of Sacramento, California to "Mr. Kent & Son." Kent & Son bought three line items. Much of the handwriting listing the line items consists of abbreviations and numerical measurements. The printed header reads, "Sperry Flour Company, Pioneer Mills; H. G. Smith, Manager.".

Each billhead also includes handwriting in pencil and black ink. Datelined February 1 and 9, 1898 (two billheads) and October 24, 1903 (Statement) in Sacramento, California. 8 1/2" x 5 1/4" and 8 1/2" x 5 1/2." Billheads are very clean and intact overall. Each has light age toning and a few horizontal or vertical fold lines. Statement has a tiny closed tear at bottom edge not affecting text. The other billheads each have a few pinholes in top margin. Each billhead and the entire collection are Very Good. A collection of three original billheads (including Statement) from the Sperry Flour Company of Sacramento, California to M. F. Kent & Son. M. F. Kent & Son may have been the proprietors of another Sacramento business, New York Bakery. There is one transaction on the Statement of Account. The February 1 and 9 billheads have two line items and one line item, respectively; the descriptions for these billheads' items may denote specifications (numerical figures and a few words or abbreviations). The printed header on each billhead reads, "Sperry Flour Company, Pioneer Mills; H. G. Smith, Manager." The printed header on the Statement reads, "In Account with Sperry Flour Co." There is a stamp on the Statement that shows it was paid. Handwriting on the two other billheads show they were also paid.

    Original oak box (142 x 172 x 150 mm.); decorations on box lid and front side in gilt, green, black, yellow, and red, a few chips to paint, else very good; paper label mounted to bottom of lid printed in orange and black with typescript ownership of Mr. R. Speer of the Donnelly Bakery Shop, Hollywood, Cal., which has been crookedly crossed out and replace in manuscript by 2 later owners. Box filled with recipes used for a bakery business, including those for breads, cakes, cookies, fried cakes, and icing; various forumlae, merchandising, and advertising cards to give ideas on how to sell more to customers. Also includes baking data, common faults, temperatures, and just about everything one needs to know in order to run a bakery, including production and operation records. These cards would be sent periodically to subscribing bakers in order to keep them updated with new recipes or trends. Lacks only 12 cards, although it is very possible this box did not get updated due to the war. With bifolium announcement from the Products Control Department of General Mills, Minneapolis.
