From the introduction: ''The Bald Knob quadrangle is in the central part of the Okanogan Highlands in Ferry and Okanogan Counties in northeastern Washington. All but a strip 1.2 miles wide along the quadrangle's northern boundary lies within the Colville Indian Reservation. Roads are in general poor, and habitations are few (remember this in 1964). The northeast corner of the e State of Washington is geologically one of the most p poorly known areas in the Untied States. The U.S. Geological Survey is working out the stratigraphic sequence and structure of the rocks in the area and this paper, which describes the rock types, structure, geomorphology, geological history, and mineral deposits of an are in the region, is a part of the study.''
