B&W and color illustrations (illustrator). 104pp ISBN 0831070862 Having grown up with "antique cars" (and my Dad did own one Stanley Steamer) I find this an authoritative and wonderfully nostalgic trip looking at these intricate machines. The author drove his Stanley Steamer, as did his friends, and the photographs of those trips are a great compliment to the text. very good w/lightly chipped dustjacket (hardcover).

Dr. Stanley graduated medical school and went to work at San Quentin as a prison doctor in 1913 and stayed until retirement in 1951. In this fascinating book of tales from prison, the author writes of the murderers, sex perverts, maniacs, thieves, and celebrities he encountered as chief surgeon of San Quentin. Case histories are woven into discussions of such serious topics as capital punishment and abortion, and such humorous sidelights as his popular "neurosis eradicator", a weird assortment of bottles filled with coloured water and wires running to nowhere. An entire chapter is devoted to a unique intervention with the notorious "Bluebeard" Watson, in which the wife killer explains how he felt while he murdered women. Stanley McChrystal is a retired four-star general in the United States Army who served from 1976 to 2010. He was the commander of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) from 2003 to 2008, overseeing operations against al-Qaeda in Iraq. In 2009, he was appointed as the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan but resigned in 2010 after a controversial Rolling Stone article. McChrystal is known for pioneering counterinsurgency strategies and leading special operations forces. After retiring, he founded the McChrystal Group, a leadership consulting firm, and has authored several books on leadership and strategy. Signed.
