Condition: very good(-). 2 pages measuring 7 x 8.75 inches combined, Copperwick, March 12, 1893, while experiencing economic hardship and disappointing sales of her new book, in full: "I beg to acknowledge with thanks the cheque for 35 pounds sterling.for which I enclose receipt. I was hoping Tib and Sib would sell well… and am very sorry to hear it has not been a success. Perhaps it will succeed in America or pick up late in England. Books increase every year and I suppose the sales of any one cannot be as great as formerly. So many people now want those fancifully illustrated and daintily get-up books as presents at Xmas. I think they injure the sale of Children's Books very much. If I could afford it I would return you the money.but I cannot." Heavy folds; very good(-) condition. British author of children's books.
