First Edition Signed
First Edition. First impression. Signed, as James Stephens, on title page, with the printed pseudonym struck through. 12mo; gray card wrappers printed in green; 29,(3)pp. Some toning to wrappers at bound edge and extremities; two or three freckles of foxing to endpapers; Very Good or better. First appearance of Stephens' much-anthologized short story of hunger and privation during the Irish Rebellion. The tale is not especially political but is clearly sympathetic to the Republican cause, exposing the brutal reality of life under the British occupation. Signed.
