Paperback. Condition: New. How to use finance as a tool to build a more equitable and sustainable society.Money defines our present and will shape our future. Every investment decision we make adds a chapter to the story of what our world will look like. Although the idea of mission-based finance has been around for decades, there is a gap between organizations' stated intention to "do good" and meaningful impact. Still, some are succeeding. In Just Money, Katrin Kaufer and Lillian Steponaitis take readers on a global tour of financial institutions that use finance as a force for good.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 320-363 pages with tables, charts, figures and cited references. Quarto (11" x 8 1/2") bound in original publisher's wrappers. Volume 83 Number 2 complete issue. First edition. Archaeologists have long recognized that increases in political centralization often coincide with the growth of regional settlement hierarchies. Here I develop a theoretical model which explicitly relates certain aspects of political complexity to variation in settlement size. This model applies specifically to hierarchical societies without well-developed market economiessocieties which Service would classify as chiefdoms and (perhaps) simple states. Using settlement data from the Formative Period Valley of Mexico, I show how this model is useful in measuring (1) the number of levels in a regional hierarchy, (2) the degree of political centralization, and (3) the relative amount of surplus food mobilized to support the political establishment. Condition: Edge wear with gently bumped corners and bumped edges, spine sunned . some occasional pencil marginalia else very good.
