Cloth. Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus. First Edition. Signed twice. Very Good in Very Good jacket. See scans. Honolulu: The Patten Co., Ltd., 1929. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author, Katherine Yates, from Waikiki, on the ffep [E.E. Steven was a pseudonym of the famed juvenile fiction author, for this book]. Also another signature by her on the title page, by the name E.E. Steven, with which she identifies that name as "pseud". Octavo, 268 pp. Orange cloth with black imprint and black author's [Yates'] stylized royal palm tree device on the cover. Matching orange and black dustjacket (quite scarce itself). A handsome very good plus book, showing light cover soiling, minor bumping at the corners (no loss of cloth), and shelf wear at the tips of the spine. Jacket is a solid vg, complete with a few small chips and some soiling. See scans. A pseudonymous journey into mystery and romance by "E.E. Steven" - that being beloved juvenile fiction author Katherine M. Yates, author of the magical A Tale From the Rainbow land and a number of other titles. Yates presumably took the pseudonym for this one because it was her first venture into detective/mystery fiction, being the tale of two troublesome sisters diving into a Hawaiian mystery, and this was at the time a bit off her established track. Not to worry - it turned out just fine; remarkable and charming fiction. Books with Yates' signature are extremely scarce, yet it is here twice, with a nice Hawaiian inscription. L19n.
