Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Minor shelf wear, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. Broome Stringfellow is a fifth-generation Floridian. In 1819, in Spanish Florida, in an area now part of Madison County, her Great-great-grandfather, John Broome, already was established with his family on his plantation which he called ?Talofa,? an Indian word meaning ?home.? One of John Broome?s sons, James Emilius Broome, became Florida?s third Governor. Another son, John Scott Broome, and served as Adjutant General of Florida.[Broome] is a history buff and did extensive research before and during the composition of Trek to Florida. Pride in family and love of history conspired to inspire Broome to write it, having access as she did to family documents and papers never hitherto published.
