Johann Nepomuk Strixner (1782 Altötting - 1855 München) nach Baccio Bandinelli (1488 oder 1493 Florenz - 1560 ebd.), Grablegung Christi, um 1810. Lithographie auf bräunlichem handgeschöpftem Papier mit Wasserzeichen. 21,5 cm x 33 cm (Darstellung), 29 cm x 46,5 cm (Blattgröße), unten rechts in der Platte mit "N.[epomuk] Strixner"… signiert und unten links mit "Baccio Bandinelli" als Zeichnung Bandinellis ausgewiesen. - Insbesondere der linke breite Rand mit Knickspuren, minimal stockfleckig, ansonsten in gutem Zustand mit kräftigem Druckbild. - Gezeichnete Gedanken - Mit der Romantik erhielt die Zeichnung als unmittelbarer Ausdruck des Künstlergenius eine neue Wertschätzung. Der florentinischen Kunsttheorie zu Bandinellis Zeiten entsprechend, wurde das Disegno als Manifestation der künstlerischen Idee gesehen, die mit Sprezzatura - der treffsicheren genialen künstlerischen Leichtigkeit - zu Papier gebracht wurde. Analog zum Aufkommen der Handschriftenkunde als Ausdruck des Charakters wurde die Zeichnung in der Romantik als charakteristische Handschrift des Künstlers wahrgenommen. Die Zeichnung eröffnet das bildliche Denken des Künstlers und ermöglicht es, visuell am künstlerischen Prozess zu partizipieren. Baccio Bandinelli, ewiger Konkurrent Michelangelos und Benvenuto Cellinis, lässt mit einigen wenigen Striche den monumental wirkenden Zug einer Grablegung vor unseren Augen entstehen. Durch die immense Höhlenöffnung erfolgt der Abstieg in die schier unergründliche dunkle Tiefe, wobei das Kreuz als Zeichen des Todes und des Sieges über den Tod vor dem Leichnam Christ hinabgetragen wird. Der darauffolgende Körper Christi ist einzig angedeutet und doch entfaltet er die höchste Präsenz im Bild, indem unsere Imagination - von der Zeichnung animiert - das Bild lebendig werden lässt, so dass wir unsererseits zu ,Künstlern' werden. zum Künstler Johann Nepomuk Strixner gehörte zu den Pionieren des von Alois Senefelder um 1800 erfundenen lithographischen Druckverfahrens, das ganz neue Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten insbesondere hinsichtlich der Reproduktion von Zeichnungen mit sich brachte. Noch während Strixner an den von Alois Senefelder herausgegebenen lithographischen Reproduktionen von Handzeichnungen Dürers mitarbeitete begann er zusammen mit Ferdinand Piloty ein eigenes monumentales Werk zu erstellen. Zwischen 1808 und 1815 schufen die beiden Künstler 432 Lithographien nach Handzeichnungen alter Meister. Später wurde Strixner vor allem für die zwischen 1821 und 1840 erfolgende Reproduktion der Gemäldesammlung der Brüder Sulpiz und Melchior Boisserée und ihres Freundes Johann Baptist Bertram berühmt.
