Sehr seltene, wohl erste Ausgabe; noch ohne Porträt, das erst in der zweiten Auflage erschien. - Ausführliche Lebensbeschreibung der württembergischen Pietistin Beata Sturm (1682-1730), vorgelegt von dem Stuttgarter G. C. Rieger (1687-1743). - "Besonders wichtig für den Pietismus im Herzogtum wurde Rieger als Verfasser der ersten erbaulichen Lebensbeschreibung; seine 'Württembergische Tabaea' war das früheste Beispiel einer später 'zu hoher Blüte entwickelten Form pietistischer Geistigkeit und Literatur' (Lehmann, Pietismus, S. 80)." (Wittmann, Metzler-Verlag, S. 183). - "In früher Jugend fast völlig erblindet, erlangte sie durch wiederholte Operationen eine (eingeschränkte) Sehfähigkeit. Nach dem Tod der Eltern lebte sie kurzzeitig in Blaubeuren, ehe sie 1713 bei ihrem älteren Bruder in Stuttgart eine Bleibe fand. In ausnehmend selbstloser Weise kümmerte sie sich hier - gleichsam als freischaffende Diakonissin - um die Armen, Kranken und Witwen und wurde zur 'Wohltäterin der Stadt'. Katholische Heiligkeitsideale aufnehmend, widmete sie sich daneben unablässig der Lektüre der Bibel - dreißig Mal soll sie diese durchgelesen haben - und dem Gebet. Zeitlebens ist sie ehelos geblieben" (Bautz XI, 139). - Wittmann verzeichnet zwar in seiner Bibliographie eine 1730 datierte Ausgabe (bei identischer Drucker/Verleger-Angabe, aber abweichender Kollation (S. 693), gibt aber in der Anmerkung 40 (S. 639) an, dass ein Ex. dieser Ausgabe (auch bei Mälzer 2425) nicht mehr nachweisbar ist. - Einband berieb. und bestoßen, Vorsätze leimschattig, sonst innen meist sauber und gut erhalten. - VD18 13265725 (Bibliothek der Franckeschen Stiftungen Halle, zugleich das einzige Ex. dieser Ausgabe in KvK!).
