Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. HBDJ, 190 BOOKS MENTIONED ON BACK OF DJ with Coupon indicating a 1931 printing and a first. , Copyright page states "First Modern Library Edition 1931, VG/VG-, Bound in green balloon cloth with matching topstain. Kent endpapers. Toledano binding #7.The book is Very Good. Binding tight and solid. Topstain faded. Pages edges clean and bright. Spine gilt bright. Some dampstaining to base of boards. Jacket is Very Good Minus, with slight wear to extremities. Flap folds thinning with some loss. A moderate chip to bottom of rear panel. Spine is morerately darkened, with some scuffing, and chipping to head. DJ includes Droll Stories but not Sister Carrie, indicating the correct Fall 1931 printing, according to Neavill. describes in detail the cruelty and wretched excess that often accompanies the concentration of power in the wrong hands. A timely read.
