Trade Paperback. Condition: Good. Assumed First Edition. 83 Pages. There is a previous owner's name label partially removed on the front end page. Maps are present in the last page pocket. This book is the 1967 Second Edition Reprinted June 1971. The Trail Guide to the "Upper Pecos" is number 6 in the series of "Scenic Trips to the Geologic Past." This series, sponsored and published by the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources, a division of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, is designed to interpret he geology of the State in an educational, interesting, and nontechnical way. The authors of the publications in the series are geologists who have carried out scientific investigations, especially detailed geologic mapping, in the regions described. Thousands of persons visit the upper Pecos region each year, attracted by its incomparable mountain scenery, its recreational and dude-ranch facilities, and its exceptional opportunities for good fishing and hunting. If this guidebook encourages some of these persons to spend more time walking or riding the high trails herein described, looking at the sharp peaks and mighty canyons with fresh insight and new understanding of the geologic forces that have made them as they are, we shall be satisfied that our Trail Guide is serving its purpose. The Trail Guide may be used in various ways. It may be read for background information on the geology of the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It may be followed in more detail while driving Highway 63 between Pecos and Cowles. It can be utilized to utmost effectiveness while riding or hiking over the high mountain trails. In using it for trail trips, it may help to read through the entire description of any trip before starting. One can then be on the watch for certain geologic features along the way. If the Trail Guide is carried in a saddlebag or knapsack, it will be handy for reference whenever desired, provided one keeps some mental record of mileage traveled. Such easily observable man-made or scenic features as trail intersections and stream crossings make convenient reference points for distances traveled.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a meticulous survey of the working conditions and wages of women in Washington D.C. during the Great Depression. The author examines specific industries and the conditions therein, such as: laundries, dry-cleaning, manufacturing and retail stores, beauty shops, hotels, and restaurants. The author provides useful comparative data and focuses particularly on the impact that the implementation of minimum wage laws had on the earnings of women. The study also includes information on hours worked, differences in pay between different roles, and data on tips and other non-monetary forms of compensation. This book provides important documentation on the challenges faced by women in the American workforce in the 1930s. It is an invaluable resource for work in women's history, labor history, and economic history. Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
