He was captured in Arkansas by troops under Kirby Smith and spent the next 14 months in Confederate prisons. Swiggett's life while imprisoned at Camp Ford near Tyler Texas. Contai…ns a comprehensive listing of casualties among the officers and enlisted men of the Thirty-sixth Iowa Infantry at Marks' Mills, Arkansas, April 25, 1864. Very little information available about Camp Ford. Anecdotes of of life on the run during two different escapes. See Dornbush Volume I, Iowa 245. A scarce book on CW prisons. Corners are bumped and there is rubbing and wear to the top and bottom of the spines.
