Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Ann Grifalconi (illustrator). 1st Edition. This is a pretty cute children's story about Christmas in a Mexican village, with some lessons about gifts and giving, and is not to be confused with the 2003 novel "Night of the Radishes" by Sandra Benitez. Rather charming three-color illustrations. Reinforced binding, but NOT an ex-library copy. In fact, apart from very slight bumping at spine ends, this is a near fine copy in a very good, slightly rubbed and browned dust jacket with a small tear in upper gutter and some loss at head of spine. A bookseller's label on front flap covers what I assume is the price.

Hardcover. Condition: VG+/VG+. Hardcover with orange cloth wrap and color glossy printed dustjacket. 399 pages : illustrations (chiefly color), color maps This item is still in the original unopened plastic wrap. Around 1700, artists in Udaipur began creating large, immersive paintings to convey the mood of the city's palaces, lakes, and mountains. A Splendid Land explores how painters depicted places, mapped terrains, celebrated water resources, and triggered memories to foster political and personal attachments to land. With dazzling works made over a period of two hundred years that extends from Mughal to colonial India, and by drawing upon previously untranslated sources and engaging with the history of the senses, this publication opens early modern art history to new interpretative possibilities, while revealing the visual logic and beauty of Udaipur paintings.
