Full Leather. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Contemporary sheep skin covers, with inked title on spine. Older paper library label near foot of spine. Inked name and date (1770) on first blank page. Covers are very slightly soiled. Light scattered foxing. A very lovely copy of the first edition of this classic work.

Spine and boards also a little grubby with a few small stains and marks. Greyed top and foredge. Mild foxing to endpapers otherwise contents are generally good and unmarked.

Edinburgi: Excudebant Abernethy & Walker, 1815. Sm. 8vo. Orig. half calf over very worn cloth-covered boards. Paper title-label on spine. (xx, 420pp.). Text in Latin. Some insect damage & damp stains to prelims; light foxing throughout. Light pencilled annots on rear endpaper. NOTE: Celsus, a medical historian, produced this fine account of Roman medicine, one of the earliest typeset medical works.
