First U.K. edition. 120 pages. The book is firmly bound in blue cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is slightly foxed, dusty and marked. The dust jacket is quite grubby and rubbed, there are a few minor nicks and short closed tears to the edges, some pages are unopened. The uncommon first English edition of one of Salih's most acclaimed works, two short stories and a novella set in a fictional Sudanese village, all illustrated by Ibrahim Salahi.
