Tan Boards & Black Cloth. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. From the London Edition, revised by the. 93 numbered pages; index; 6 illus. (wood cuts--'Blast Furnace,' 'Women Bearing Coal,' 'Gold Washing in Mexico.' etc.) Book condition: Original cover has considerable wear on the cover corners, and board is exposed. The leather spine is missing circa 0.5 inch at both ends. Title & #80 are legible on the spine. Marbelized paper covering the boards is missing about 1.0 sq. in. on the front cover and c. 50% on the back. Edges are a dirty off white. Front fly is missing, and inside the cover & 2nd end paper are written names & a school name. Binding & covers are held securely by two strings (originally I think there were four). Title page has c. 1.0 inch missing from the bottom, publisher name is torn off. First page of the book is headed 'The Mine, continued,' a sequel to book #79? Narrative picks when a couple are walking in the Forrest of Dean. Book has been damp, when some pages were separated the print was damaged. Circa 20% of this page is not legible. Page 39-40 is torn in half, crosswise; otherwise legible. Page 48 half of four lines are not legible. The second page of the index & back end paper is missing. A pale tan damp stain is present in the lower half throughout.
