Add to basketpaperback. Condition: Good. Mass market paperback of this pre-Stonewall gay classic has edge wear with some loss at the corners, spine quite worn with tears and loss at head/tail. Interior is toned. After the deaths of two loves, Armand moves from France to face New York City and self-discovery. A woman hired by his acrimonious father tails him, although her attempts to seduce him break way to a unreturned infatuation. After Armand drifts through the city, he finally finds community in the artistic queer scene, where he receives support as a poet and as a man who loves other men. However, the nights of drinking, drugs, and naivete drag him into ruin. The first US edition (1931), first UK edition (1933), and second US edition (1948) all contain different texts. All orders packed with care, most dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Lion Books No. 24. Scarce early novel about gay men originally published by Greenberg in 1931 in a hardcover edition. This copy has moderately toned but clean pages without marks, creases, stains or wrinkles. It has a light reading crease and leans just slightly to the right. There is a small handwritten "S" on the book's front cover, otherwise the book's exterior is very clean. There are light creases close to and parallel to the spine on the front and back covers. Light wear to edges of covers and spine. Quite a good copy of this scarce novel. (Note: Photos may show a flash reflection.) PayPal always welcome. We pack all our books with care and ship in cardboard boxes. Shipment outside of the United States may require extra funds. Additional photos emailed upon request.
