First Edition. 4to. 27 by 21 cm. 40 pp., plus 20 hand-colored aquatint plates of Parisian landmarks, many of which no longer exist (, les Tuileries, the prior opera house, Theatre de l'Ambigu Comique, Porte St. Antoine, Porte St. Bernard, Eglise de St. Chaumont, etc.). The illustrations are contained within circular frames, giving one the sense of peering through a peephole or window, and somehow sharpening one's focus on the structure being portrayed as well.
