Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First edition. Folio [40 cm] Red paper over boards with gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Extremities lightly rubbed and bumped. The text block is just starting to crack in a few places, but remains very strong. The book is in very good condition, however the illustrated slipcase is worn. The slipcase has several long splits along the edges, and tape repairs to the bottom edge. May require extra postage due to size and weight. A detailed study of the famous Ghent Altarpiece- Van Eyck's large and complex 15th-century polyptych. With 25 full-page color plates on leaves of thin wood with interleaved commentary, including a folding plate of the famous polyptych.
