Seller: The Bark of the Beech Tree, Depoe Bay, OR, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Charles Crombie (illustrator). First edition thus. Thackeray's long, satirical novel presented here with new illustrations by Charles Crombie. Sixteen color plates in all. This illustrated edition was also published by Dodd, Mead as a leather-bound version in two volumes, and by Dent, same year, in the U.K. This copy is very good, slightly worn on spine ends, spine panel a little dulled, and the color pastedown looks a bit faded. The title page has a small, wrinkled, dark brown stain which, getting more and more faint, bleeds through to page 19.
