The author draws upon history and politics to highlight the devastating consequences of bribery and extortion, which have been present throughout human governance. The book delves into numerous case studies and examples, both past and present, to demonstrate how these practices have undermined nations and betrayed the public trust. The author argues that the pervasive influence of powerful individuals seeking personal gain poses a significant threat to the integrity and well-being of societies. This book is an invaluable resource for understanding the corrosive effects of corruption and the crucial importance of holding those in power accountable for their actions. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
