The current work stems out of his compilation of different scenes of British life in India, in particular, that of wealthy Europeans among native servants and entertainers, providing "an important window into Anglo-Indian social relations of the time" (UC Santa Barbara Library, online). Thomas Williamson is best remembered as the author of Oriental Field Sports (1807-8).
